Role

UX Designer

Body Battery is a unique feature incorporated into Garmin smartwatches, offering users insights into how daily physical activity, exercise, stress levels, rest, naps, and sleep influence their energy reserves. This feature aims to provide users with a clearer understanding of these interconnections, empowering them to make more informed lifestyle decisions.

As part of the initiative to refine this feature, I aimed to improve users' comprehension of the various factors that impact their Body Battery each day. To successfully develop this enhanced version, I collaborated extensively with the physiology and programming teams, ensuring that the designs I created were both practical and aligned with established requirements.

A primary challenge I encountered as a designer was effectively displaying clear information within the confines of limited screen space while ensuring accessibility for individuals from various backgrounds, including those with disabilities.

To facilitate a better understanding of how daily choices affect Body Battery levels, I improved the graphical representations by incorporating "bubbles" that illustrate changes in Body Battery when the watch identifies the contributing factors. Additionally, I developed a scrollable list that enables users to monitor how their Body Battery fluctuates throughout the day and the reasons behind those changes. We also made enhancements to the feedback provided to users throughout the day.
